Special Treatment

"Hello Momma!!"

I tried so long to capture a smile, this was the best I could do.

Our poor, sweet baby had a terrible time Friday night. She had a trip to the ER.

She had blood in her stool and the Dr office was closed so we went to the hospital. The fear is that blood in the stool can be a symptom of very serious things. Better safe than sorry.
The whole experience was terrifying for all of us, but in the end Tim and I were the more damaged. Never again do I want to hold down my baby while they poke her with needles to draw blood. I have never prayed so much in 3 hours as I did Friday.
Ultimately what we know as of today, after seeing the Pediatrician, is that she had a tummy bug, and was just working through it. We also learned that "NewParentItis" is a very real condition and next time we will wait to see the Dr if she is not showing really severe signs of sickness, all the ER did was beat her up and stress us out. In the end they told us she was fine and to take her to her Dr. We didn't even get a diagnosis, short of them telling us she was not in mortal peril.
So, if you feel inclined to pray for our Noodle, please do. She is still healing from the 2 needle stabs and being catheterized to collect urine. She also is still working through her belly bug, and we just want her back to normal.

Grandma and Grandpa came over on Saturday night with frozen custard for the frazzled parents, and lot of hugs and kisses for the exhausted baby.
Grandpa and Daddy played bluegrass for Noodle while Grandma rocked her.
I was taking advantage of the opportunity to shower.
Afterwards Grandpa topped of her night by playing her some blues on the piano.

Noodle loves live music(has since she was in the belly).
But mostly she loves to be snuggled, especially after such a rough night.

A Few Gory Details

I realized I never really shared details of our family's big day, so for those who are curious..
My water broke as we were heading to bed Thursday night, it was 8:15 and I was sure I peed the bed. Tim assured me we should head to the hospital and the midwife on call at our Dr's office confirmed Tim's idea. So, naturally I took a shower before we left.
It was raining and Tim was moving fast with wide eyeballs. We got there at 9:00 and they confirmed my water had broke and admitted me by about 11:00, I was still not in labor, but was 3-4 cm, so our nurse, Rhonda (who should be sainted), gave me a "whiff" of Pitocin. That did the trick, and by 2:00 I was 7-8 cm and wanting that epidural......BAD. After that I was pretty happy and by 4:45 I was complete, but had a bulging bag that we would need our midwife, Carol, to come rupture. She arrived about 5:15 and as soon as she hit the doorway, the bag popped and I got down to the business of pushing.
After more than an hour of pushing I asked for a mirror to see what I was doing and once I saw that, Violet was born within minutes.
I'd say Tim's face says it best....we couldn't believe she was a girl.
And for those into math, and looking for a reason to hate me, I was only in true labor for about 6 hours.
But let's not forget I threw up for about 6 months....

Looooove......

You all remember Kimmy, right?
Well, this is her and her boyfriend, Josh, or Joshua, as she prefers to refer to him.
Are they not cute? Don't ask me how long they have been together, several months for sure.
They met at work.
Wanna know a secret?
I love them together. He is great for her, and I'm sure she is great for him.
He clicked right into place with our family, which I hope he enjoys. His family is in Michigan, so he gets us now for events and holidays(lucky chap).
That's my story(well, it's their story, really) and this is me putting my official stamp of approval on their love-fest. And if you wanna know my prediction on their future, I'll gladly send you an e-mail with that info, unless your name is Kimmy and we share genetic code.
And if you are wondering about Violet, here she is at my Mom's on Sunday.
Talk about a love-fest.

More Nonsense

No matter what I do one of these always gets out in the free air.
Have I told you she wears 6-12 month size socks?

She's not real sure about her swing yet.
She's really not sure what she thinks of this zebra toy on there either.

Ready for bed in her nightie.
I'm not sure why she looks so shocked.

Tummy Time

Look a this sweet face.
It gets kissed 4,763 times a day.

"Am I flying?!?!"
Violet saw the dogs yesterday. She has caught glimpses of them but they move too fast for her to track. This worked well for all 3 of them to check each other out.

I sure hope she is a dog lover, but with Gunner and Pisty, I don't see how she won't be.

A Day in the Life of Noodle

This is what she does most of the time.
Also eat and poop, but who wants a picture of that?
She can see alot better now and likes to play under this.

But only after Daddy showed her how to do it properly.

She has a bath before bed, and this makes her Daddy hysterical, he loves how she looks in her towel. He laughs every time, it never gets old.
I quite like it myself.

She also smiles now, but this is the closest we've got to capturing one on film(or digital memory card as it were)
So that's the Violet Show these days. She's 1 month old today.
Did someone hit the fast forward button on my life?

3 Weeks....and growing.....

"Sometimes I'm pretty serious. I think alot about the things I see."

"Sometimes the things I see surprise me. That happens alot since I'm pretty nosy and can already hold my head up and look around for long periods of time."
"I also found my tongue recently and show it to Momma and Daddy whenever they try and get me to talk and smile."
Well, our little, tiny baby already seems like less of a little, tiny baby to us.
She seems to grow and change every minute. I already put away a whole sack of clothes and things that no longer fit her. Mostly it was socks and footsie pajamas. She is wearing newborn clothes, as long as they don't have footsies, and 6-12 month size socks.
She never even wore her newborn socks, at least not for long, they came right off.
She may really dislike that later in life.
Her Daddy calls her "Noodle" and "Monkey"
I just call her "The Poor Baby Girl". She has really perfected the art of a pitiful cry when she is feeling really bad for herself. I let her cry it out for a few and then I pick her up and she goes, "wooo wooo wooooooooo" and then settles right down.
She is such a snugly little thing, she will let anyone hold her as long as they want, and she just flops on them and cuddles right in.
Yep, when they say it goes fast, they were not exaggerating.
