Here's What Happened

First, the bad stuff:

We have been nothing but sick since Peter was born. Tim and I had colds when I went into labor. We got over it once we got home. Then we got another cold the week of Christmas, and poor Peter got it too.The week before Christmas, Peter was diagnosed with reflux. This was sad news.He is now on medication for it and doing much, much better. This entire last week of our lives was lost to the stomach flu. Everyone had it except Peter(Praise God)

We have all the while been weathering the adjustment period that comes with adding a new member to the family. I feel like I can safely say that the bad times are drawing to a close.

Now the good stuff!!

Peter is nearly 9 weeks old and blossoming daily. He is so mellow and smiley.

I call him Mr. Good Natured. He just chats away, coos and smiles and thinks Violet is the bees knees. She feels almost the same. He is such a charmer and recently tried to get a strangers attention at a store. Flirt that he is. I do wish he'd sleep a little more at night, but all in good time. And is this not the sole wish of all parents of newborns?!?

Violet has successfully moved into her toddler bed(not without some rough times for us!) and is 95% potty trained. The potty training she did all by herself. We are so proud of our big girl. She is an awesome helper to me all day and is getting by on just a few kisses and snuggles throughout the day. She is unfortunately watching a shameful amount of TV these days, but I know this is temporary. She doesn't know it yet, but in a few short months she will have a full time job trying to keep Peter out of all her things. I hope sharing comes along as easily as potty training!

I intend to put up a run of super cute pictures soon.

Promises, Promises......

Just a Few

These shots are in a disjointed timeline, but what can I say, so am I.
But it's a good thing. A very good thing.
VeeVee meeting Peter for the first time. I think she said something along the lines of, "He's so cute!"
Us getting to really check him out after the nurses did their duties on him.
I don't know why I'm poking his cheek. I poke him a lot though, in a loving way.

Just a few minutes old.

Big 'ol tootsies!!

Stuff N Things

38 Weeks and 1 Day
Before we get too much further I want to say this: My face is swelling, much like the rest of me. My eyes look horrible because I am up for about 2-3 hours every night. Discomfort, followed by hunger, followed by Lil Mister having a party. It's the thing to do between 1 and 4 AM.
Also, in the rest of these pictures you will see our house in disarray. I'm going to pick it up soon. I swear. So if you could please not pay too much attention to these few things, I'd be ever so grateful. Thanks.

Poor Baby Brudder is a seat for Big Sister.
Not that he seems to mind, in fact, he usually takes advantage of these situations to try and give her a kick in the hiney. He may be glad to be a few up on her when he arrives. I guess that it may mean he does mind if he kicks at her, but sibling rivalry can never start too soon.
Right?

Most evenings after dinner we take a little special family time and goof off.
Translation: we try to tire out the toddler before the bedtime routine begins.
I used to be more involved in this, these days it seems I just watch and laugh and occasionally give her a hug and a shake and resume my seated position. She does not care for the fact that I can no longer do Ring Around the Rosie with her and Daddy.
He has made up a few new games to get her mind off of that.
Behold:

Flying. "Like Peter Pan!!!!!" Violet exclaims.
She does this until Tim can no longer lift his arms.
I honestly don't know who sleeps better after these romp sessions. I know it ain't me. *sigh*
As a bit of an update, I managed to lose 2 more pounds, so we had another ultrasound to check on the babe. He is just fine, 7 pounds-ish and measuring around the 21st. I also asked the U/S Tech to measure his foot. It is about 3 1/2 inches long. Yikes!
