Not at the Same Time

I long ago abandoned the quest to get a picture of both of my kids where they are both looking at me and smiling. And one of them doesn't have a wonky eye. Or a strange sneer. Or something they just secreted oozing out of them. Motherhood is not without glamour, people.
Anyhow....here are some cute shots of each of them. With the other doing whatever.

An Outpouring

Smooch anyone?
It is very late and I haven't much time, but I already reached my goal and then flew right beyond it. Yes, God is good. I was amazed at the generosity that came forth and produced a new iPad and all the needed accessories(and then some) for this family!!
I will expound upon this in a later post, but for now know that God will never cease to amaze!!

A Prayer for Help and Healing

This post has nothing to do with my kids, but here are recent pictures for those of you wondering what they look like these days. I am sorry I don't blog too much lately but I plan to do more in the future.
I have been brought back to my blog though to share something with you all. Many of you who are reading this are on my e-mail list so you got my e-mail regarding this, but for those of you who don't know, here is a quick summary of the mail I sent:
When I was growing up in Falcon we had some close family friends. Their Mom watched us during the summers and we all did 4-H together. There were 2 kids, Karah, who is my age and Tim, who is my sister Kimmy's age.We spent tons of time together as kids! They left our school district in high school and we lost touch as tends to happen in life. I recently got back in touch with Karah through Facebook. She lives in Nebraska with her husband, and 5 year old son, Colton, and 3 year old twin daughters, Jadyn and Jordyn. Jadyn was very recently diagnosed with a type of cancer called neuroblastoma. She is trying to keep her family/friends updated through Facebook with her cell phone, but she has mentioned that they need a laptop and are trying to find one to borrow. God put it in my heart to help them out with this. I would love to find a way to get them a small computer, I am thinking an iPad. I know this is a tall order, but I know that we can all make this happen for this family!! If you are interested in donating please contact me. If I am unable to meet my goal, I will simply send the money directly to the family.
Of course, I put my address in the email, but I can't put it here.
Please send me an email at maryann.purpletree@yahoo.com if you would like to help out and of course, Prayer is a priceless gift!!!

And for a quick blurb about us....
The kids are great! Growing and changing every day and just the absolute highlight of our lives!!
Tim is still at his same job and I am still "working" from home. More recently my sister and her husband moved to Michigan for great new jobs and we miss them terribly!!
I hope to post again before 3 months go by (shame on me) and fill you in on more tasty tidbits about the goings on here. Plus, my sister will send me a spanking if I don't. Would that be a spank-a-gram? Dunno, but I bet she will find a way!!

The Swirl

I was looking at old pictures of Violet and was noticing some similarities in my kids. Then after a few more pictures I was thinking they looked just alike, so I did a side by side exact age comparison. I have decided though they are similar, they are very, very different. The one thing that is the same is they both have a swirl in their hairline off to the left. In the exact same spot. You may have to click on the pictures to see it more clearly, but it's there.
Can you tell who is who here???

Here's What Happened

First, the bad stuff:

We have been nothing but sick since Peter was born. Tim and I had colds when I went into labor. We got over it once we got home. Then we got another cold the week of Christmas, and poor Peter got it too.The week before Christmas, Peter was diagnosed with reflux. This was sad news.He is now on medication for it and doing much, much better. This entire last week of our lives was lost to the stomach flu. Everyone had it except Peter(Praise God)

We have all the while been weathering the adjustment period that comes with adding a new member to the family. I feel like I can safely say that the bad times are drawing to a close.

Now the good stuff!!

Peter is nearly 9 weeks old and blossoming daily. He is so mellow and smiley.

I call him Mr. Good Natured. He just chats away, coos and smiles and thinks Violet is the bees knees. She feels almost the same. He is such a charmer and recently tried to get a strangers attention at a store. Flirt that he is. I do wish he'd sleep a little more at night, but all in good time. And is this not the sole wish of all parents of newborns?!?

Violet has successfully moved into her toddler bed(not without some rough times for us!) and is 95% potty trained. The potty training she did all by herself. We are so proud of our big girl. She is an awesome helper to me all day and is getting by on just a few kisses and snuggles throughout the day. She is unfortunately watching a shameful amount of TV these days, but I know this is temporary. She doesn't know it yet, but in a few short months she will have a full time job trying to keep Peter out of all her things. I hope sharing comes along as easily as potty training!

I intend to put up a run of super cute pictures soon.

Promises, Promises......
